Anger is an emotional state that varies in intensity from mild irritation to intense fury and rage. Like other emotions, it is accompanied by physiological and biological changes; when you get angry, your heart rate and blood pressure go up, and so does the level of your energy hormones, adrenalin, and noradrenalin. Anger is a common feeling, thought, and behavior. It is not so much the feeling or the thought that is the trouble - it is what we do when we are angry that is the issue.

One in four women and one in six men will be victims of sexual assault during their lifetime.
Alcohol use contributes to almost half of all sexual assault incidents. This includes both offenders and victims alike.
90% of USA reported fights continue for an average of 30 seconds and no more than 3 minutes.
There are an average of 2 million assaults in the workplace each year in the USA alone.
Workplace violence is in almost every business.
The majority of reported fights do not end up on the ground. During street fights, the dominate attacker walks away after several blows are delievered standing up. The person may fall to the ground after they have been "suckered punched" or "beat to the poll," but most attackers stop at that point.
A rape occurs every 5 minutes! 94,635 USA reported rapes in 2004, thousands more go unreported!
Kicking in only a small part of Self-Defense!
Punching is only a small part of Self-Defense!
Trapping is only a small part of Self-Defense!
Ground Fighting is only a small part of Self-Defense!
Wrestling/Grappling is only a small part of Self Defense!
Weapons Training is only a small part of Self-Defense!
Learning Weapons & all ranges of combat is a LARGE part of Self-Defense!

Multi-Attackers are involved in 90% of USA reported gang attacks!
55% of those that offer no resistance during a crime get injured!
A woman is attacked every 3 seconds!
5% of women will become targets of a stalker at least once!
A burglary occurs every 12 seconds!
A major assault occurs every 29 seconds!
Most carjackings happen in neighborhoods we trust!
25% of women will experience an extremely violent crime!
A murder occurs every 24 minutes! 16,137 USA reported murders in 2004!
70% of rape victims knew their attackers well!
A robbery occurs every 54 seconds!

77% of assaults involve only the hands and legs!
2% of assaults involve a firearm!
7% of assaults involve a blade, stick, or club!
14% of assaults involve only verbal commands! (These are USA reported assaults only...these do not include murder.)
The #1 weapon used in ALL crimes (including murder) worldwide are knives and other forms of blade, clubs, bats, and sticks.
Learning Katas (Forms) only, will not prepare you well for Self-Defense!
Sparring only, will not prepare you well for Self-Defense!
Performing Memorized Drills only, will not prepare you well for Self-Defense!
Defensive Techniques only, will not prepare you well for Self-Defense!
Offesive Techniques only, will not prepare you well for Self-Defense!
Cross-training/Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) are the key to improving your odds.
Woman that are assaulted use more prescription drugs; are more likely to quit school; make less than then 30K per year in the USA (less in poor countries); have ongoing nightmares; and problems holding onto relationships!
Knives have been carried and used in every war in world history and they still are used today. Even the poorest criminals own blades, sticks, and clubs. Not every criminal owns a pistol or rifle.
The vast majority of violent crimes occur between 6 p.m. & 6 a.m.
Most blades, sticks, and clubs are legal to carry in public.
Poorly managed anger is at the root of many serious physical, social, and emotional problems, from heart disease to interpersonal violence.
Anger kills. Not only does anger drive people to shoot, stab, or inflict violence on others, it poses serious health risks.
Anger can cause hypertension, high blood pressure, and depression.
People who have high levels of anger have a greater risk of dying from heart disease.
Hostile people can have weaker immune systems.
Several studies show that anger can predict shorter life spans.
Unexpressed anger can lead to pathological expressions of that anger, such as getting back at people indirectly, putting others down, and criticizing everything.
Anger is like a slow-acting poison. It eats away at you and courses through both the mind and body.
The instinctive, natural way to express anger is to respond aggressively.
Anger is a natural, adaptive response to threats; it inspires powerful, often aggressive, feelings and behaviors, which allow us to fight and to defend ourselves when we are attacked.
A certain amount of anger, therefore, is necessary to our survival. On the other hand, we can't physically lash out at every person or object that irritates or annoys us; laws, social norms, and common sense place limits on how far our anger can take us.
